One way to speed up your metabolism and lose a little weight is to commit to a regular routine of short bursts of intense anaerobic exercise. This is referred to as HIIT or high-intensity interval training. Now, every morning to jumpstart our day, my wife and I do a 4-minute fat burning morning exercise routine.
Back in 2015, I stumbled upon a viral New York Times article about the scientific 7-minute workout. I tried it out, and it was great, but sticking to 7 minutes every single day wasn’t happening. So I starting googling around and discovered a 4-minute workout by Turbulence Training.
Inspired by the effectiveness of this short but effective workout coupled with the mandatory stay at home orders due to COVID-19, I pulled out my iPhone and shot this video.
The Fat Burning Morning Exercise Routine
Exercise #1: Squats
Do 20 seconds of squats with a 10-second hold where you do incorporate the Wall Angels exercise while in the squat position.
Exercise #2: Jumping Jacks
Now do 30-seconds of jumping jacks to really get that burst of cardio. You follow this with 20 seconds of Squats and then a 10-second hold in the Squat position while doing Wall Angels.
Exercise #3: Push-Ups
Next, you do 30 seconds of Push-Ups. You can do a modified Push-Up or a traditional Push-Up. You would then follow this with 20 seconds of Squats and then a 10-second hold while doing Wall Angels.
Exercise #4: Mountain Climbers
The fourth exercise is Mountain Climbers. Get into a plank position and make sure your hands are shoulder-width apart, your back is flat, your core is engaged, and your head is in a neutral position.
Then run your knees in and out as far and as fast as you can for 30 seconds. Then do 20 seconds of Squats and with a 10-second hold doing Wall Angels.
Exercise #5: Full Body Swing
The final exercise is a Full Body Swing, where you leap up on to your toes and bring your arms way above your head, and then come back down. Do this for 20 seconds and finish with a stationary Squat for 10-seconds.
Alternatively, you can switch the Full Body Swing for a Burpee.
So there you have it, the 4-minute Fat Burning Morning Exercise that you can start doing every day to battle that urge to resort to being a sluggish couch potato. It only takes 4 minutes, you got 4 minutes, right.
