GOT ANTERIOR KNEE PAIN?
In the January 2012 issue of the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy, a randomized controlled trial of hip exercise on females with patellofemoral pain was conducted by Dr. Khalil Khayambashi and colleagues.
The participants performed hip strengthening exercises 3 times a day for 8 weeks. Two hip exercises: Hip extension and external rotation exercises were performed on both legs using Thera-Band® elastic tubing.
The Results: After the 8 weeks, the participants experienced a significant reduction in their anterior knee pain, as well as a 32 and 56% improvement in their hip strength.
